Raise your hand if you used to curse your freckles as a teen and did all that you could to mask them once upon a time. If that's you, you should know that your trademark dots are being copied by celebrities and makeup artists to give women more "natural" looks.
Today, makeup blog The Beauty Department posted a tutorial on how to get a blemish-free look without looking like you're wearing a lot of makeup. Their trick: Draw on fake freckles over your finished makeup using brown eyeliner. That way, you create the illusion that you're not wearing any base — because, if you were, your spots would be covered up. Plus, you get the added bonus of having cute freckles sprinkled across your face, something the Beauty Department declares is "very youthful."
If this makeup technique seems strange to you, you may be even more surprised to find that it isn't totally uncommon. In fact, Olivia Wilde admitted in an interview with Nylon that she has faked them in the past.
