One of Duncan's imaginations include a possibility of Donald Trump being a buggy bot.
40 years ago, robots were sort of science fiction material. Today, it's not.
The last decade has seen great progress in terms of using robots for human interfaces. Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant and others. On one end of the spectrum is skepticism and fear of robots not only putting people out of jobs but also screwing our position as the top decision makers in the planet. On the other side of the spectrum are those with excessive optimism on the wonders robots can infuse in almost anything.
The book is rich with imagination and empathy in its take on the myriad ways humans and bots party on Earth. Personally, I think it is Saturday, 8 o clock and the party has just begun. Imagine what all robots we might have to deal with, thirty years down? If they replace the mind numbing sequence of telephone helplines, I think I would be good.
