I absolutely love Conor & Dominique's story. When I first met Dominique, I asked how they met, and she told me they are baaaasically the real life Jim and Pam. They met at work, sparks flew at the Christmas party, and soon enough they were the "worst kept secret in the history of office romance." Their day was filled with laughter and dancing, happy tears and sunshine, booty-twerkin and heartfelt words <3 It was absolutely amazing.

This right here is Shade of the Highest of Highs. No one could do it like Dominique Devereux or my grandmother Blanche (who kept a beat face, dressed like Dominique, with a Bacardi &Coke 24/7) who was a diehard fan. Can't believe Diahann Carroll is gone but I'm so glad I got to meet her when she came to Newberry, SC to perform years ago where she was funny, classy and risque at the same time.

I dedicate this look in honor of the late Actress, Singer, and Model, #DiahannCarroll.
This woman paved the way for many women of color. Her 1968 debut in Julia was the first series on American television to star a black woman in a non-stereotypical role, which was a milestone both in her career and the medium. In the 1980s she played the role of Dominique Deveraux, a bi-racial diva, in the prime time soap opera Dynasty.
Now for the outfit details! This Dress is a one-of- a-kind creation by the cutting edge Kenyan brand, Malkia__e which happens to mean “Queen”. All of their collection is hand made by Kenyan artisans under the design direction of Owner/Designer Esther Nkaambi. The pieces are done in classic patterns for universal appeal so ANY women can feel good wearing their pieces. The #SnoodDress is my particular favorite as it exudes much style and transitions well from summer to fall with its neck adorning wide collar. I can’t wait to wear a nice fitted turtle neck under it once the weather finally starts to present it’s true Fall self. Until then, enjoy the video and go check out their page!

Nine days into Dressember and I have learned a few things: winter in Canada is cold, long sleeves on dresses are the best invention since pockets on dresses, fleece lined tights are a godsend, and layering is a girl’s best friend. But mostly I’ve come to appreciate how easily I can change my condition on my own through simple choices and strategy. Victims of slavery and human trafficking can’t. They are fundamentally unable to change their conditions on their own. Their rights and freedoms to do so have been stripped from them. That’s why they need our help to enact that change. While this challenge is fun, its purpose is to raise awareness and incite change. Please help us in that mission and donate what you can. No amount is too little. And special thank you to Dominike, Dominique, Michelle and Samantha, your support means the world to me and those you are helping to free. https://dressember-2018.funraise.org/fundraiser/lindsay-sansregret
