The Manhattan Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the East River in New York City, connecting Lower Manhattan at Canal Street with Downtown Brooklyn at the Flatbush Avenue Extension. The main span is 1,470 ft long, with the suspension cables being 3,224 ft long. The bridge's total length is 6,855 ft. It is one of four toll-free vehicular bridges connecting Manhattan Island to Long Island; the nearby Brooklyn Bridge is just slightly further downtown, while the Queensboro and Williamsburg bridges are to the north.
Apr 14, 2010 · Yeah, the Manhattan bridge is a perfect example of poor bridge design. Since the Manhattan is a suspension bridge, it has much more flexibility. With the tracks at the extreme egdes of the deck, the deck twists a lot when a train runs over the bridge, which is not good for the steel deck when it happens hundreds of times a day.
Probably Is the speed also different cause of how long the cars are cause 75fters may have to make sharper turns than the 60fters

Lol IMO it was probably because leaving Canal you have a steeper up grade and sharper curves than leaving Grand so the had an advantage.
